As laid out in the Whole Estate Plan, we are looking to restore Rock Common Quarry into an ecology focused visitor destination incorporating eco-lodges that enable a gateway to exploring the neighbouring South Downs National Park and Wiston vineyard and winery.

In order to do this, we need to vary the current restoration scheme, which would leave an unsafe and incredibly deep and cold lake, in which there would be little to no species flourishing.

To enable an ecologically regenerative area that will help biodiversity thrive for the long term future, we need to raise the land form back to a level where shallow lakes can be created with gently sloping edges.
